About Us

Choose Life Maine was incorporated in February 2011.  We are an IRC Section 501(c)(3) organization and a Public Charity under IRC code 170(b)(1)(A)(vi).  Donors can deduct contributions under IRC Code 170.

Our purpose is to (1) satisfy the legal requirements of the state to make available to Mainers a CHOOSE LIFE MAINE specialty license plate from the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles and should we be successful to (2) provide financial assistance to not-for-profit life affirming pregnancy support centers resident in Maine.

For a list of the pregnancy support centers we anticipate providing assistance to please see the Maine Right to Life Committee's annual directory.

The Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles requires that we pre-sell at least 2,000 specialty plates before the Bureau can submit legislation to the State Legislature for their consideration.  Should they approve the legislation then you will receive a voucher from the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles to pick up your new license plate.  If the legislature disapproves of the legislation you will receive a refund of your $25.00.

Please help us make LIFE the CHOICE for Maine by pre purchasing a CHOOSE LIFE MAINE specialty license plate.  Please click here for the Pre Purchase Application

If at any time prior to formal application being made to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, refunds may be requested at any one.  Requests must be in writing.

Should our efforts succeed any funds we receive from the State of Maine from the sale of the plate will be allocated to not-for-profit life affirming pregnancy support centers resident in Maine. Any donations we receive will first be used to pay for our administrative expenses and any funds remaining will be allocated to the pregnancy support centers.  No salaries or wages are paid to any of the Directors, Officers or Volunteers of Choose Life Maine.
